Dark Hour
A personal operating environment that runs in the terminal. Habits, tasks, notes, a stock portfolio, and song ideas live on one screen, and an AI persona called NEON (Claude) reads all of it at once — writing a morning brief, making observations, and following up on habits you said you'd keep.
The dashboard: habits, tasks, notes, NEON, and portfolio in one view. (Demo data.)
What it does
- Habits with streaks and a 30-day trend, quick-marked from the keyboard
- Tasks that reset daily, notes with inline
#tags, song ideas with vibe metadata - Portfolio view with weights, P&L, tiers, and goal alignment
- NEON — chat, observations, UX reviews, and a morning brief. You approve or reject its output, and those judgments are fed back in so it drifts toward your taste over time
- Trust levels (0–5) that gate what NEON is allowed to produce, plus a Watcher that logs everything it says
- Local-first: data stays in a
data/folder on your machine; the API key goes straight to Anthropic
Run it yourself
Needs Python 3.11+ on macOS or Linux.
git clone https://github.com/JustinSchoenegge/Sandbox.git
cd Sandbox
./setup.sh
darkhour
The AI is optional. Everything except NEON works without an API key. To turn NEON on, add your own Anthropic API key — calls are billed to you, capped by a daily limit, and the static context is prompt-cached to keep daily use cheap.
